Benjamin Franklin thought that the Turkey ought to be our national symbol...not the

So, here is a page for the . . .
Turkey
. . . not just because Thanksgiving is around the corner, but to honor All sorts of turkeys out there (you know who you are...here's your sign:)

And according to L.M.Boyd, there are more turkeys in California than any other state. Guess he never checked out Washington, D.C. Photos and artwork invited.Just send them post-haste to
and the Main Turkey
will put 'em on this site, providing they are "tasteful turkeys!"
So...you're a Vegetarian, one of 2 million reportedly in the U.S. For you, Thanksgiving is for the birds. Well, here's something for You. The author hasn't tried these products, so no claims are made regarding taste. However....
UNturkey made by a San Francisco-based company, Now and Zen, and Tofurky from Turtle Island Foods, of Hood River, Oregon, give vegetarians a main course all for themselves.
Tofurky is a meal for four adults that includes a seasoned stuffed roast made from tofu and wheat gluten, mushroom gravy and four "drummettes" made from tempeh, a fermented food made from cooked soybeans. (Iowa Farmers Gotta Love It!) The roast is white after cooking and slices like a boneless turkey breast, while the drummettes are dark, giving eaters the full illusion of a meal of white and dark meat. Company rep thinks that nearly 50,000 Tofurky meals will be sold by Christmas, mostly in health food stores where they are priced at around $20 each.
UNturkeys are completely sold out this year (sorry 'bout that). The company sold 20,000 of them, up from 5,000 sold in 1997. Previously, they were sold in a restaurant but so many customers kept asking to take one home they went commercial. UNturkeys, made from seitan, a wheat gluten product, and covered in bean curd skin, come with vegetable stuffing and a quart of vegetarian gravy. In two sizes, feeding up to four people for $24 or eight for $35. (At least, in 1998. No telling what inflation has done to the UNturkey by now).
The People for Ethical Treatment of Animals this holiday season is running nationwide TV advertisements for the first time to encourage non-vegetarians to keep turkeys out of their shopping cars. "Holidays can be murder on turkeys," action Joaquin Phoenix says in the ad after encountering the turkey display in a supermarket. "Let's make this one for the birds." PETA reportedly is spending a half million dollars on the campaign.
In what is seen as a redundancy, PETA once sent a Tofurky to the White House, hoping that Pres. Clinton's daughter Chelsea, will feast on the tofu bird on Thanksgiving, according to a story in Reuters. Maybe this could be considered Turkey Light? (You need to read the Humor page on "Clinton Light" to fully appreciate the possibilities).
For now, here's just a few more
for you to look at...and here's some of the biggest turkeys we've seen this year.
Academy Mayor "Gunsmoke" White

Probably, the laugh will be on us.
"I learned to recognize the thorough and primitive duality of man; I saw that, of the two natures that contended in the field of my consciousness, even if I could rightly be said to be either, it was only because I was radically both." ~Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
And a blast from the past........lest we forget what it was like with a Clinton in (or near) the White House:

Featuring Bill Clinton, playing safe sax......
Just for equal time, here's another...
