21 JUNE 2001 2045hrs.

First run since its been home. sounds great, still need to finish tune up, kind a loud with no exhaust system but sounds good..

NOTE: There was a week break in between here to repair my girlfriends pick up truck, Ford F150 which she wrecked a while back. I Replaced 3/4 front end on it. Looks good, needs a paint job but it came out well. By the way, she got her hands greasy on this one too. She looks cute in grease. Ha, Ha, Ha.

Progress has been good, I am still trying to align the drivers side passenger window, passenger side rear aligned well. I need to tighten up the passenger door front window guides. Roof is working well, just need to add a little more fluid to clear out the rest of the air from the hydraulic line replacement. Car starts well but something is draining the battery, will look at that this week. All lights are working good. Sealed leak on the radiator lower transmission line connector, no current leaks. The passenger door opens and closes easily now. Car is coming together well, outside of having to really look for some parts, I am relatively surprised at the availability of most of the parts. Anyone who has done a restoration knows how pleasing it can be to find parts easily.

Well, Worked on the Mustang last night. I found the alternator to be bad and was shorting to ground. I will replace it tonight and install the rest of the exhaust system, which came in today. I have repaired some of the damaged wiring that was corroded by the battery acid. Filled more type A fluid for the roof. All seems to be working well there.

17 July 2001

Back with more activity to report, replaced the voltage regulator, repaired and did some rewiring. There is still a problem in the wiring but I am getting closer to resolution, the battery is no longer draining and will start normal. I found a leak in the passenger side roof actuator and will replace that. I will be taking more pictures later today for posting. The air conditioner is working well, exhaust system quiets the sound down well. The switch for the heat/ac works well. The car needs motor mounts and will order them next week.

Ok, here are the latest photos.

20 July 2001

Last night I finished up the wiring and electrical issues. All looking good now. I found a bad splice and repaired the splice so it now gets all the "juice" it needs. I replaced the roof actuator and it appears to be fine now.

Well, the windshield has been replaced, I finally found a motor mount for the drivers side, fortunately after a 3 week search, I managed to find one in good condition at a Auto Recycle Center in Grand Prairie, Texas. Several obsolete Ford parts centers were called. NO ONE makes the motor mount for the 3.8L V6 Ford Mustang. I searched all over the country to find an after market and Ford told me it went obsolete in 1998. Next issue was the adjustment of the back up light switch, which is part of the neutral start switch. This was a relatively easy task and took 5 minutes. The Mustang is now inspection ready, which will hopefully be completed today. There are a few more cosmetic items that need attention, but nothing critical that can not wait until later.  I also need to do some minor engine work to "smooth it out". That should be able to be done at leisure as well. For the moment, I think Crystal and I will go for a nice ride with the top down… :)
